This week has been busy to say the least! Monday we didn't do anything because of it being Memorial Day.
Tuesday I ran into Cody to run errands and get a cart FULL of bottled water, bottled green tea, cans of V8 juice, and several tubs of Gatorade! We are taking our hydration very serious. Scott told me that the electric guys came and by the time I was headed home (~noon), he said they were finished!! I don't have a picture yet, but basically they put a transformer on the pole and set up a meter box with master shut off. All we have to do now is dig the channel and attach the wiring that will go to our house. All this we can do ourselves. So far, the electric (via the electric company) has cost right around $2,500. Now that doesn't include the wire from the meter box to the house, but we should be able to do that within the next 3 weeks.
Wednesday I stayed back at the trailer and did chores while Scott went into Red Lodge to get our first load of materials to get the foundation formed up this weekend. I'll post a picture of that along with details of what we are doing with the foundation too - I don't have a picture of it this time though. The materials were just over $1,500 (not including the concrete itself). We still need to get the rebar chairs. So far we've checked 3 stores here in Powell and haven't found anything, so looks like we (or maybe just Scott) will have to make a trip up to Home Depot of Lowes in Billings.
We had a wonderful surprise on Wednesday too! The guy that came out to do our estimate for the electric, Marty, he stopped by to see us!! He is such a nice guy and it was such a nice surprise to see him.
Wednesday night we were on 'poop' patrol with Tiger. We weren't sure if he had pooped the day before and every time we tried to see if his butt was clear of hair (we were afraid the same thing that happened to Tuffy would happen to him too because Tiger also has long hair). Well, we woke up today, Thursday, and sure enough, Tiger was trying to poop and couldn't. So we rushed him to the vet this morning and they are going to take care of him too. Plus the vet said while he was under sedation, they would shave him all the way!! I'll get a picture to share with you after he's shaved:) Our wonderful neighbor Lori offered to help us shave him too, but since he's going to the vet we figured we might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
We are in town for part of today because Scott has a doctor's appointment. I'm not sure what all is going to come out of this appointment, but I'll keep you all posted!!
I will tell you a funny story!!
Yesterday on Scott's way to Red Lodge, as he was driving down our gravel road, he saw what he thought was a tie strap in the road all stretched out. So he strattled it and drove over it. When he looked back in his mirror, it had coiled up and was a SNAKE!! So last night, for fun, we drove down to see if we had any mail, and drove really slow. My version of hunting!! Driving slow with the air conditioner on:) I'm pretty sure I saw a snake track - Lori told me what to look for and I'm pretty sure I found one, but we didn't see any snakes.
We also discovered yesterday that the UPS truck will deliver packages directly to our house, or rather cargo trailer! We ordered 6 #10 cans of Mountain House foods - 4 cans of eggs with bacon, 1 can of chicken noodle, and 1 can of sweet and sour pork. We are trying to eat really healthy but having a hard time getting a good breakfast. Scott had a 7 day survival kit and we love the eggs! Not exactly like homemade, but really good!
This weekend:
We are breaking ground on our house either Friday or Saturday. We will be forming up the foundation this weekend then having the concrete poured next week! I'll have lots more pictures to share soon!
