Let the Building Begin!!

Building update! On Monday, we received our first load of materials and started working on the house that night! After the first evening working (about 3-4 hours before we got rained out), we got part of the mud sill and sill gasket in place - we used treated lumber to do this.

On Tuesday, we worked for a good bit of the day and we completed the first level of the mud sill (we are doing 2 layers), we laid down all the plastic over the concrete and used something called a Ramset that literally shoots the nails into the treated wood for the subfloor into the concrete.  We have all the long pieces down.  But we got rained out at about 3-4pm on Tuesday.

We got so much rain last night - nearly a full inch! - that our build site is very muddy.  This morning we got a load of the 1 1/2" foam for the insulation under the subfloor.  We are supposed to get more storms over the next 2 days, so we probably will only be pre-cutting the rest of the subfloor and then starting on the walls of the mudroom.  Once everything is all dried out, then we will start putting it all together!

I don't have the time to enlarge the pictures below, but just click on the first one and you can scroll through them.  When you click on them they will get bigger.

Thanks!!
